The aim of this portal is to provide tourism and natural data for the thirteen rural nodes identified through the Integrated Sustainable Rural Development Programme (ISRDP). This programme has been launched by the South African Government in order to improve the coordination and integration of development in rural areas.

So, with rural development and poverty alleviation in mind this portal is aimed at a broad spectrum of interest groups:

• The tourist who wants to know more about the rich and diverse cultural and natural attractions of these mostly isolated and less-known areas.

• The relevant tourism organizations and operators who need material for marketing tourism opportunities in the various ISRDP nodes.

• The potential tourism investor who needs sufficient information to evaluate development opportunities in these rural nodes.

• Strategic planners and environmental managers, whether in the private or public sector.
